中文摘要 | Project Work在學習外語過程中鼓勵學生積極參與資訊的收集,及整理。透過合作學習,學生不但降低對外語焦慮或懼怕,並且從團隊合作中肯定自我,產生自信。學生藉著外語學習活動既得到課本上的知識,也從做中學到思考與創作的喜樂。 Project English作者Tom Hutchinson(1991)曾提及Project Work的魅力。他說:「從沒有一位教師因在課堂上運用Project Work,而後放棄的。 」本文將就合作學習在英文閱讀課程的運用作一分享:介紹Project Work的定義、目的、功用、設計活動,進行過程及其評量,以證明Project Work在語言教學上的效用。 |
英文摘要 | The first time I was totally moved by project work was when I was in Lancaster University, UK, taking a three-month teacher training course in 1993. I realized that I had done such kinds of activities in school as a student and as a teacher. At that time, I named these activities "picture file", "poster", "interview & report", or "5-minute DJ program." Ever since I returned to my home teaching situation, I have been trying project work in my classes, such as Poster on Earthquake, Gift of Love, Orientation for Freshmen, Cookie House, My Story Book and Scratchbook with Stories. In my opinion, project work is worth doing in English language teaching. Through project work, learners not only learn formally from the text but also from the participants. Through project work I believe that learners may enjoy learning, reach their academic standards, develop their personalities, and foster imagination as well as critical thinking skills. Most importantly, project work, one of the cooperative learning types, has the magic of anxiety reduction. (Kagan, 1981) In a heterogeneous group, active learners, or higher achievement learners, may lead other members to an energetic learning attitude whereas the less active learners, or lower achievement learners, may gain a feeling of security in the community of language learning. In this paper I would like to share my experience of the whole process in project work. I am going to state what project work is, why it is used, how it functions, and the application to my English reading class. |
