中文摘要 | 全球每年各種塑膠生產量大約1億5千萬噸,隨著人口自然成長及生活水平的提昇,塑膠生產量將逐年增加,同時廢棄不用的塑膠製品亦迅速累積,帶給人類唯一的生存環境嚴重的負擔。生物分解性塑膠具有一般塑膠的功能,而且使用後在自然界能逐漸分解成二氧化碳、水及其他無害的殘餘成分,不致對人類唯一的地球村帶來污染。預估美國、西歐、日本等三個主要地區的生物分解性塑膠的需求量在2003年將到90,000噸,換言之從1998年至2003年之間,每年平均需求成長率為37%。生物分解性塑膠大致可以分為天然高分子系(澱粉系)、微生物系、化學合成系等三種,目前商業化的產品以包裝用填充材及堆肥袋為主,而食品包裝容器及農業用資材亦漸具重要的市場地位。 |
英文摘要 | Research on synthesized polymers which are apt to degrade into carbon dioxide, water and humic materials under natural environments, namely biodegradable polymers, is being actively performed from the viewpoint of environmental preservation. In 1998, total consumption for biodegradable polymers in the United States, Western Europe and Japan estimated at 18,000 metric tons valued at over $95 million. Total demand of biodegradable polymers in theses three regions will increase to near 90,000 metric tons in 2003, representing an average annual growth rate of about 37% over the five year period from 1998 to 2003. Most of the biodegradable polymers are products: that are in the early stages of market development. Moreover, due to the higher cost of biodegradable polymers, applications are limited to special niches with unique environmental considerations. Loose-fill packaging and compost bags are two major end uses, consistituting nearly 80% of demand in 1998. Food service and agriculture items are also becoming more important in practical application recently. |
