英文摘要 | In 1996, a LLED 400 Block Web Site was developed as an EPSS to assist learning of LLED 400 Block Curriculum at Pennsylvania State University. This Web Site was field tested by students and faculty and the results showed a potential of facilitating both learning and instruction in the 400 Block Curriculum. In 1997, this Web Site was improved and introduced to two classes of students. A questionnaire was distributed to students who browsed this Web Site, and a posttest essay of the midterm was reviewed for the purpose of evaluation. Both the implementation of a web-based EPSS as well as the evaluation of the use of it are unique and innovative. The purposes of this study are:1)to investigate the effectiveness of EPSS in supporting learning, and 2) to examine the extent to which this EPSS can facilitate the integration of these three Block courses with the whole language approach. This paper describes the features of and rationale behind the LLED 400 block, whole language philosophy, EPSS, and the design of the LLED 400 Web Site; discusses the research methodology; explores the effects of the use of the Web Site; and provides conclusions and implications for Language and Literacy Education, as well as for the application of this EPSS efforts in educational settings in Taiwan. |
