中文摘要 | 近年來DWDM(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing)網路已發展到單一頻道頻寬達OC-192(10Gb/s),及每條光纖總容量為4Tb/s(約400條頻道)。貝爾實驗室在近期發表的技術文章中,更表示其實驗室的DWDM已達每頻道寬為160Gb/s及每條光纖可容納1022條頻道;這顯示DWDM技術已成為解決網路頻寬不足的主要方向。另外;目前DWDM網路的延遲多造因於光電轉換緣故,因而使得全光的DWDM網路傳輸成為國內外研究的重點。由於製作純光的交換元件尚未成熟,這使得目前DWDM骨幹網路多採用線路交換(Circuit Switch)方式工作,然而在都會或區域的DWDM網路研究,仍以分封交換(Packet Switch)為主,並且以單純的環狀為網路的拓撲。其次;現階段的網路傳輸以IP封包為最主要的對象,因此探討如何將IP封包直接交由底層傳輸減少各層不必要的處理,藉以提高網路的整體效能,這方面的研究均受人矚目,如Voice over IP (VoIP),IP over ATM Packet over SONET/SDH (POS),IP over WDM等。 基於上述緣由,本論文將提出一個在DWDM Ring網路上以CSMA方式讓載波先行的存取控制協定,藉此來減少IP封包在全光區域或都會網路下的通訊負荷,這個機制可以讓全光環狀網路頻寬以空間再利用方式讓一個以上的封包同時在網路上傳輸。為評估本協定的效能,文中以模擬一個全光環狀網路的傳輸,由模擬結果顯示本協定具有非常好的網路效率。 |
英文摘要 | Recently, the channel bandwidth of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) commercial communication system had reached in OC-192 (10 Gbps), and the total bandwidth of an optical fiber is 4Tbps. The new technical report from Bell laboratory shows the advance technique has been studied out; there are 160 Gbps per channel and 1022 channels in a fiber; this result indicates DWDM is the solution for bandwidth insufficiency. Besides, the present opto-electronic conversion speed is a main factor to make the transmission rate of DWDM network slow down; hence there are many researches studying in the topic of all-optical transmission now. Because of immature optical switch, the present DWDM network almost operates in circuit switch than packet switch, however, the packet switch and the ring topology are interested to the researches in DWDM MAN and LAN. In addition, at the present day IP packet is the most object in network transmission, so study how to directly put the IP packet on the lowest layer to transmit without any overhead of intermediate layer is very hot. There are some topic such as Voice over IP (VoIP), IP over ATM, Packet over SONET/SDH (POS), and IP over WDM. In this paper, a carrier preemption access control protocol based on carrier sense multiple access schemes has been investigated for supporting IP packets over all optical WDM ring networks. The intention of our protocol design is to reduce the communication overhead of IP packets over optical networks for local/metropolitan area. To facilitate spatial reuse on the bandwidth of all optical ring networks, a special design is made for the carrier preemption scheme. Simulation has been done to evaluate the performance of the protocol. The simulation results display extraordinary good network efficiency. |
