英文摘要 | In order to improve the physical and mechanical properties, particleboards and medium density fiberboards were laminated with veneers with two different thicknesses from three wood species (Agathis, Michelia, and Tectona). To test the strength of these wood-based panels, non-destructive and destructive testing methods were carried out on these panels before and after lamination. Veneer lamination showed no significant change on the velocity of stress wave. However, significant improvement could be obtained on the bending strength of medium density fiberboard after lamination. The bending strength increased within the range of 14.7-56.8 %. The thicker veneer lamination, Showed the higher bending strength (up to 70-78 kgf/cm^2). However, this increase did not depend on which side the lamination was. The bending strength did not differ significantly when laminated on one or both sides. A twenty-four hour soaking Water test was also carried out on medium density fiberboards and particleboards. Medium density fiberboards were swollen approximately 0.87-3.28%less than those of particleboards. When veneer was laminated on both sides of either boards, there was a smaller swelling. However, no significant changes were observed on the internal bonding strength or the screw holding strength after the lemination. |
