中文摘要 | 人參具有增進記憶力的功效。本研究即欲探討,是否人參能夠促使海馬構造的神 經元興奮,進而達到增加記憶力之效果。本實驗以腹腔注射的方法給予雄性大白鼠人參萃取 溶液( 200mg/Kg 體重)後, 以組織免疫化學來觀察海馬構造中的神經元是否會表現出 cFos 蛋白以顯示神經元被活化。 對照組則給予未含任何藥物的 0.9%NaCl 溶液。結果顯示 ,對照組之海馬神經元中只有很少量 cFos 蛋白,而在接受人參刺激之大白鼠中,其海馬構 造內 Dentate gyrus、CA1 兩區含有較多的 cFos 表現( p<0.001 與 p<0.05 ), 而另一 區( CA3 )則有增加的趨勢( p<0.1 )。根據此結果推測,人參可藉由促使海馬構造的神 經元興奮,而達到增加記憶力之功效。 |
英文摘要 | Ginseng has been shown to improve memory acquisition both in human and animal models. In the present study. we investigated the effect of ginseng extract on the activity of hippocampal neurons of rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were given a single dose of water extract of ginseng roots (200 mg extract/Kg body weight, i.p.) and sacrificed 2 to 3 hr later. cFos-like activity in the hippocampal formation was detected by immunohistochemical staining. In the control animal (normal saline-injected), only minimal cFos immunoreactivity was detected in the hippocampus; the number of cFospositive neurons was significantly increased in the dentate gyrus and CA1 of the hippocampus of ginseng-treated rats (p<0.001 and p<0.05, respectively). However, there was only a tendency of increase in cFos-like protein in CA3 after ginseng administration (p<0.1). These data suggest that the memory-improving effect of ginseng may result from activation of certain hippocampal neurons. |
