英文摘要 | The Paper is study about St. Ignatius of Loyola's education thought. Sixteenth century is Reformation Age. There are many reform groups; none was more instrumental in the success of the Counter-Reformation than the Society of Jesus, the new order of Jesuit6s, organized by Ignatius of Loyola in the 1540s and officially recognized by the Catholic Church in 1540. the Society grew within the Space of a Century from its ten members to more than fifteen thousand scattered throughout the world, with thriving missions in India, Japan, and Americas. The Society of Jesus was by far the most militant of the religious orders. Their weapons were not to be bullets and spears but eloquence, persuasion, instruction in the right doctrines, and if necessary, more worldly methods of exerting influence. The activities of the Jesuits consisted primarily of proselytizing not just heathens but Christians, and establishing schools. Wherever they were allowed to settle, the Jesuits set up schools and colleges, for they firmly believed that a vigorous Catholicism could rest only on widespread literacy and education. Indeed their schools were often so efficient that, after the fires of religious hatred began to subside, upper-class Protestants would sometimes sent their children to receive a Jesuit education. |
