英文摘要 | The quality and quantity of information needed to function effectively in society and the workplace continues to increase. Individuals are faced with the escalating challenge of managing far more information, in increasingly diverse formats and locations. They must be able to master rapidly changing information technology and possessthe information literacy skills to act independently in this information rich environment. Information literacy is common to all disciplines, to all learning environments, and to all levers of education. It forms the basis for lifelong learning. Thus, an information literate person is able to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evalute, and use effective the needed information." The present paper attempts to explore the definitions, contexts and developments of information literacy, and also to survey major information literacy activities and educational programs in U.S. other countries, and the present status of information literacy in Taiwan, R.O.C. is also investigated. |
