英文摘要 | During 1980-1988, the Department of Anthropology, National Taiwan University, conducted a series of salvage excavations at Peinan, a vast Neolithic site in Taiwan. The accumulated burial data proved to be nearly three thousand years diachronically. The research of this paper focuses on one particular burial categorized as B2467:a double burial of mother and infant. In this paper, the writer intends to systematically present B2467 in the context of the overall Peinan burials such as the construction of the stone slabs, the skeletal remains, and the grave-goods generally, as well as the burial position and orientation. In addition, based on the analytic studies of the multiple burials among the slate slab graves found from the Peinan site, the writer exemplifies the multiple burials as a burial system developed during the later phase of Neolithic Peinan culture in eastern Taiwan. And, B2467 was found to be a double burial of mother and infant, not a case of the multiple burial of Peinan of the typical pattern. B2467 was judged to be a case of the mother who died from complications in the labor for giving birth. Also the differences in treatment of burials in comparison to that of modern aborigines is presented. |
