英文摘要 | There had been few studies on psychology of art until early twentieth century. In fact, there were only esthetics and philosophical studies before late nineteenth century. Freudian Psychoanalysis that first developed in 1900, made it possible to analyze fine arts from a perspective of psychological theories. From then on, different schools offered vary interpretations and concepts to analyze artworks, artists, or even the spectators' mental process. Rodulf Arnheim, a Gestaltism scholar, coined the phase "psychology of art" in his works in 1966, as a result, there have appeared many a studies in this field. This research attempts to review the Chinese documentation about psychology of art, and tries to trace its development in Taiwan. The first person who studied this field in China was Ju Kung-chien, who wrote a book in 1930's about the psychology of art. However, Ju focused on philosophical issues more than on psychological inquiries, in spite of this book was titled "psychology of art". Most of the current materials on this subject here in Taiwan were translated from foreign publications. There are two persons who had achieved success in this field, one is Lu Shi-liong who concentrated on Gestaltism, and the other is Wang Shu-shung who employed Freudian theory. Freud believed the strategy of personality development. His theory explains the drive of creation is the resulting from a state of unsatisfication of libido, and all the artworks are the sublimation of libido. Gestaltism believes that the whole is not the sum of the parts. It investigates perceptual integration when we are seeing things. There are also other approaches, including clinical psychology, constructionism, and semiotics studies in this field, worth to be examined as well. |
