英文摘要 | The shrimp Acetes intermedius is an commercially important species in the southwestern coast off Taiwan. It has been suggested that the spawning ground of this species is mainly located within the lower part of estuaries. It is likely that the eggs hatched in estuaries will be affected by the fluctuations of copper concentration accordingly. The object of this study is to examine the effect of copper concentration on the hatching success of A. intermedius. The results showed that the hatching success did not significantly increase with elevating copper concentration until 200ppb. In addition, eggs contain copper and can successfully hatch at low copper concentration suggesting eggs have sufficient copper to hatch. This evidence reject the hypothesis that A. intermedius using estuaries as spawning ground is likely due to the relatively high concentration of copper in estuaries which was thought to be helpful to the eggs hatching. |
