英文摘要 | Our objective is to develop a Fine-grained Instrument for Measurement of Systems Performance. The term fine-grained means that the obtained measurement data from this research are precise and detailed. To achieve precision, we employed NIST developed MultiKron II performance measurement chip and its associated toolkits. For detailed measurement, we modified the LINUX kernel to enable observation of system operations. In addition, we fully instrumented the source code of tested system to obtain application level information. Based on this, we established an integrated measuring instrument environment incorporating network condition emulator and stress test configuration. We also developed a set of utilities to help users conduct experiments, collect and analyze the measurement data. Specific experimental results on WWW client-server architecture present the effectiveness of the FISP toolkits. |
