中文摘要 | This study determined and compared traditional and adult (extension program) EFL junior college students' perceptions regarding their preferences for learning styles. Despite the critical importance of assessing learning style preference and implementing the knowledge of learning styles for higher achievement and increased motivation for learning, it is obvious that in most junior colleges, students still are all treated equally and that the need to design curriculum and instruction to students' preference is neglected. Dr. Reid's Pewrceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire was used to collect data from a random sample of 209 traditional and nontraditional (adult) EFL students in higher education in five randomly selected junior colleges in Taiwan. Computation of item means and rankings indicated that respondents considered auditory style to be the most preferred style while individual and visual were the least preferred styles. The Statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program was used to analyze the data obtained from this study. t tests for independent means revealing significantly different learning style preferences (p < .05) between traditional and nontraditional EFL students were conducted. The composite means and standard deviations for traditional and nontraditional students' preferred learning style are presented. |
英文摘要 | 本文研究之主要目的在於了解專科學校傳統學生與成人學生(參與推廣教育學生 或稱非傳統學生)對英文學習型態之偏好。並且進一步比較二者間的差異情形,以提供學 校或教育當局做為改進專科學生英文教學之參考。雖然中外許多教育心理方面的研究顯示, 進行評估學生學習型態偏好且實現學習型態理論會提高英文教學的學習成效與學習動機。 但是國內一般專科學校傳統式的英文教學是將全體學生(傳統與成人學生)等質視之。有 關個人的學習偏好及配以適當的教材與教法,則總是被忽略。為了研究國內專科學校個人 (含傳統與成人學生)的學習偏好及提出改進教材與教法,本文採用瑞德(Reid)博士學 習型態偏好之調查研究測卷。隨機抽取五所專科學校,再從專科學校中按比率抽取傳統及 成人學生共得209人。使用社會科學統計套裝軟體(SPSS)來進行分析,並經由t-考驗 (p < .05)及運用平均數與標準差來得出此二類學生之學習型態偏好是否有差異存在及 其個別的排序情形。經比較其平均數後發現,聽覺(auditory)學習型態為傳統與成人學 生最喜愛之學習型態。然而,個人(individual)與視覺(visual)學習型態則為其最不 喜愛之學習型態。 |
