中文摘要 | 本文試圖以女性主義社會建構論的觀點,閱讀臺灣作家蕭麗紅的《桂花巷》與美國作家凱特.蕭邦的《覺醒》,探討中西兩部小說中的女主角,如何置身於不同的地域、社會、文化情境中,在自我與外力的塑造下,發展出多變的女性自我,以印證女性主義社會建構論的訴求:社會與文化的因素決定女性的本質,世間不存在所謂永恆、固定、不變的女性特質,因為,女性的自我隨外在的客觀環境而改變。 |
英文摘要 | This paper investigates how female selves situated in the contexts Taiwanese and American culture and society are formed and develop themselves in Hsiao li-hung's Osmanthus Alley and Kate Chopin's The Awakening. The investigation is made by using the feminist theories of femininity-as-construction and the heterogeneity of women to illustrate constructionalist insistences that women are subject to cultural influence and social change, that women are not stable or universal objects or categories, and that the element of “particularity” must be taken into consideration so as to access the overall reality of women. |
