英文摘要 | Background: The purpose of this study was to present the gray-scale and color Doppler ultrasonographic features of peripheral neurogenic tumors. Materials and Methods: Nineteen patients were enrolled in this study (12 men and 7 women), ranging in age from 17 to 74 years (mean, 52.9 years). Color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS) imaging was carried out on each nodule prior to removing it surgically. Thin-cut specimens were prepared for comparison with sonographic features, with an emphasis on tumor components and vascularity. The specimens were prepared with hematoxylin and eosin stain. All observations were evaluated and discussed by a pathologist and a sonologist. Results: All nodules were ovoid in shape and ranged in size from 1 to 11.8 cm in the long axis. A well-defined margin and well-traced neuro-bundle surrounding the tumor were noted in 12 patients. Hypervascularity was found in 18 nodules and the resistive index was less than or equal to that of the muscular branches. Correlation between the histopathologic and sonographic findings showed that the areas of mixed cellularity presented as heterogeneous hypoechogenic portions, the area of hematoma presented as a hyperechoic portion, areas with myxoid degeneration presented as echo-free, the fibrotic capsule presented as a well-defined curvilinear hyperreflective margin and vessels presented as linear color flow signals. A correct preoperative diagnosis was made in 18 cases. Conclusion: The characteristic findings of peripheral neurogenic tumors were an ovoid, well-defined, heterogeneous hypoechoic soft tissue mass on gray -scale ultrasound and a predominant hypervascularity (18/19) on CDUS. |
