英文摘要 | Vertebral (excluding the sacrum) giant-cell tumors are rare. Its involvement of IVC and aorta invasion has not been reported. A 23-year-old female with back and right flank pain was evaluated by computed tomography and MRI examinations. The result demonstrated a big soft tissue mass extension around perivertebral space, encasement of IVC, aorta and compression of anterior the-cal sac. The giant-cell tumor of L2 was confirmed by CT-guided biopsy. She received preoperative transarterial embolization by gelform powder via right lumbar arterial injection, anterior surgical decompression, posterior spinal instrumentation and adjunct radiotherapy (4500 rads). Two years later, she is free from back symptoms and has no neurological deficit. Clinical and radiological examinations show no evidence of tumor recurrence. The surgical decompression and stabilization along with the preoperative embolization and postoperative radiation can be considered to be one of the standard modern therapies for vertebral giant-cell tumor. |
