英文摘要 | The objective of this study was to conduct a series of experiments to gain fundamental understanding of flow through low permeability fractured porous media of tight sand. The considered sample was a slot-pore type tight sand from Travis Peak Formation with permeability in microdarcy range and porosity of 7%. Nitrogen and water were used as gas and liquid phases. Two planes flow experiments were conducted at constant overburden pressure of 20.78 MPa and at different pressure drops. Our data showed that two phase flow through our sample is mainly dominated either by gas flow or by water flow, and the sample is very sensitive to overburden pressure. Three Imbibition and three Drainage runs were performed at overburden pressures of 13.89, 20.78, and 27.68 MPa, respectively. Our experimental data also showed that the presence a fracture in low permeability porous medium is the key factor for enhancing the gas recovery from low permeability gas media. The presence of a fracture enhanced the gas flow, not only due to the increase in overall permeability but also due to the creation of different flow patterns which locally shifted the two phase flow away from the capillary force domination region. Furthermore, the fracture opening plays a significant role in enhancing flow due to both reconfiguration of connecting pores and joining the non-connecting pores to the flow network. |
