英文摘要 | Restoration methods in self-healing ATM VP networks can be classified into dynamic or preplanned methods based on the time point for retrieving the backup paths. The dynamic methods retrieve the backup routes only after a failure is detected. On the other hand, in the preplanned method, the backup paths are preassigned their routes when the corresponding working paths are established. To more effectively utilize spare bandwidth, the backup path can predetermine its rout but can capture the required bandwidth only when a failure occurs in the preplanned method. In this investigation, we describe several policies for routing working paths and constructing backup paths for preplanned methods. In addition to conventional link and path restoration schemes, this work also presents a novel scheme called the ripple search preplanned scheme, which is modified from available preplanned methods to realize high reliability and rapid restoration. Also studied herein are efficient strategies for sharing the capacity of backup paths and the interaction between routing working VPs and routing backup VPs. Moreover, extensive simulation is performed to evaluate different restoration schemes under different routing policies. |
