英文摘要 | In order to understand how reading is taught and whether any evidence of collaboration in elementary schools exists in Taiwan, the author observed five different classes in four different schools and interviewed five elementary school teachers, first through fifth grade. This paper describes how literacy is developed in the elementary classroom and analyzes the opinions obtained from the teachers' questionnaires. Most significantly, the author concluded that students especially primary graders are immersed in a process of inductively learning the connection between Chinese radicals and words. Besides, the teachers in Taiwan obviously put strong emphasis on both knowledge and moral issues in their teaching as well as their expectations for students to learn from their reading. |
