中文摘要 | 語素是最小的語音和語義的結合體,也是最小的語法單位。有的語素可以獨立成 詞,有的語素必須與其它的語素相結合,才能構成一個詞。不管是語素或是詞,在書面上都 是用字來表示,在口頭使用上則是用音節來傳達。照理說,字、語素、詞的界限應該是十分 清楚的,但是在語法教學上,這三者的界定,常因為一般語法書太過籠統的敘述,或過份繁 雜的分類,造成學習上的困擾。 本文以現代漢語為範圍,首先從「字」、「語素」、「詞」的界說、關係,說明三者的 基本概念。進而透過比較分析,討論三者之間的模糊性。結論重點:建議在語法教學時,除 了「字」、「語素」、「詞」的基本概念必須明確界定外,也應對常造成三者之間混淆的原 因,如:(1)漢語都是單音節的,(2)漢語是一字一義的,(3)字是構詞成分,(4)忽略語素可 升可降的特性等等錯誤觀點,加以澄清、說明。 |
英文摘要 | Morphemes are the minimal linguistic units that bear meaning and can be pronounced. Some morphemes can constitute words by themselves while others form words in combination with other morphemes. Both morphemes and words are represented be logograms in writing but phonetically conveyed by syllables in speech. Following this line, the boundaries among "logogram," "morpheme," and "word" should be clear-cut; however it runs the other way around. The boundaries among the three terms are blurred due to the extremely simplified or complex expositions found in average grammar books. The confusion of the three terms also impedes students' language learning. The current essay talks about modern Mandarin and aims to clarify the definitions of the three terms-"logogram," "morpheme," and "word"-and their relationships. In addition, the perplexing problems about the definitions of the three terms are further analyzed. It is concluded in the essay that the confusion of terms is caused by the misconceptions that (1)modern Mandarin words are all mono-syllabic, (2)modern Mandarin is an one- logogram-one-meaning language system, (3)logograms in modern Mandarin are morphological component parts in word formation, (4) morphemes in modern Mandarin are fixed. |
