英文摘要 | The contacts between different civilizations along the Great Silk Road made this area "a melting pot" of various cultures, religions and languages. Having served as the land-route for penetration of Islam into China, the Silk Road area is inhabited by various ethnic groups of Muslims who speak different languages and use a variety of script systems. This paper is based on the study of unique Chinese-language texts written in the Arabic(or rather Arabic-Persian) script. Such texts are found among the Chinese muslims (huizu) who live spread out over a vast territory stretching from the former Soviet Central Asia and Kazakhstan in the West to the Chinese province of Shantung in the East. Outside of the Silk Road region, the texts of this esoteric tradition are almost nonexistent. In the present paper, I analyze these texts from the perspective of Sino-Persian and Sino-Turkic language contacts in Central Asia. |
