英文摘要 | The content of this paper will center on one of the hypotheses in Krashen's Monitor Model, i.e., the Acquisition/Learning Hypothesis. The purpose of this paper is to argue against two implied assumptions in the hypothesis. Respectively, one is the absolute distinction made between these two processes, acquisition and learning, and hence learning cannot become acquisition; the other is the claim that adult second language acquisition (SLA) is similar to child first language (LI) acquisition with Language Acquisition Device (LAD) functioning the same -way in both processes. By reviewing available researches and referring to current Universal Grammar theory, conclusion can be drawn that these assumptions are not merely too simplistic, but lack any beneficial insight for future development in second language acquisition theory as well as in practice of language teaching. |
