英文摘要 | Conservative treatment for fresh mallet finger with terminal tendon rupture is the method chosen by many surgeons. Splinting is troublesome and also can cause an extension lag or impaired flexion fo the DIP joint. From Jan. 1992 to Dec. 1996, there were 43 patients with mallet finger and they were treated via conservative treatment or surgery. Twenty-three patients nuderwent surgical intervention with a wire implant combined with mobilization in the early post- operative period. Twenty patients underwent conservative splinting. By 1 year after the treatment, the mean extension deficit of operative group was reduced to 5 degrees. The conservative group was around to 9 degree. The active range of motion of DIP joint of operative group reached 61 degrees. The conservative group reached around 57 degrees. The surgically treated patients had greater satisfaction with the outcome than conservative group. We concluded that patients to whom fine manual dexterity is important, surgery is a better option than conservative therapy in treating fresh mallet finger. |
