英文摘要 | Amino acids are known to be directly or indirectly involved in synaptic transmission in nervous tissues and some amino acids act as neurotransmitters. The well documented excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters include aspartate, glutamate, glycine, taurine and GABA. Their concentration altered in neuron as well as CSF in various neurological disorders. Previous study showed that amino acid levels changed in infection of the CNS in both human beings and experimental animals. More study concerning acute insult of the brain include hypoxicischemic encepholopathy, stroke, seizure and trauma, it was also found in chronic degenerative disease such as Hungtington's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Rett's syndrome et al. The CSF obtained by lumbar puncture may not solely reflect the pathophysiological state of the brain and spinal cord. However, measurement of th CSF amino acid level is easily performed in clinical practice thus it may provide informations for observing of the disease process. In the past days, the traditional amino acid analyser is not quite sensitive enough to measure the low concentration of amino acid presented in CSF. With the advances of HPLC, it became available for people to determine a minimal change of these amino acid in CSF of diseased children. This presentation will review the literature regarding the alternation of amino acid levels in the CSF during CNS disorder. Our primitive study on theis prospect will be also discussed. |
