英文摘要 | Photomultiplier tube (PMT) has many diverse applications, lincluding medical imaging, high-energy physics and cosmic-ray research. In nuclear imaging, the Anger camera or gamma camera has been the workhorse over the last three decades and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. An Anger or gamma camera is simply a scintillator-photomultiplier combination. Thus the stability of the PMTs in a gamma camera is very important for the camera's performance. Our modular gamma camera has 10cm x 10 cm scintillation crystal and four 5cm x 5 cm PMTs. Since each modular camera is a unit in our imager, stable response of each module is very important. Due to effects such as temperature and magnetic field on PMT stability, we find PMTs are not stable emough in long-term operations. Therefore we develop hardware and software stabilization schemes to stabilize PMT response. We compare the results from each method. It turns out that both methods are adequate to keep each module's performance the same as it was when initially calibrated. |
