英文摘要 | As an affluent, high-developed industrial society, Canada joined the prestigious G-7 Group in 1976 recognition of her status in international society. In the Western Hemisphere, the United States is the most important political and economic partner for both Canada and Latin American nations. It is certain that she is no parallel to the United States with regard to her influence among Latin American nations. How about Canada's relations with Latin American nations? It is widely believed that the centerpiece of Canadian foreign relations based on middle power image. Owing to middle power image, Canada's relations with Latin American nations can be explained by their mutual interest on some important global issues, such as human rights, democracy, development, environmental protection. In conclusion, the importance of trade relations with Latin American ranked quite low, at least behind the U.S, Europe, and Asia-Pacific area and the importance of Latin American lies in its influence on some important global issues in the international forum, such as the United Nations. |
