英文摘要 | Effect of minute addition of antimony (0-500ppm) in high strengthe gray iron (FC 350) was studied focussing on the microstuctural change and michanical properies response. Based on the 30mmx600mm standard cast test bar, the results showed there was little change in tensile strength and flexural loading for iron containing antimony at a level less than 125ppm. However, a pronounced chill effect was otherwise found at the same range. The intensity of such a chilled hardening phenomenon was gradually relaxed and a silk-like graphite flake formed as the antimony content increased up to 500ppm. This microstructural chang resulted in the weaking of tensile strength and flexural load. In short, small amount of antimony was found greatly promoting carbide formation, while large amount of antimony led to the evolution of silk-like graphite. It appeared as un-uniform flakes and was thought to contribute toward the degradation of mechanical properties. Regrardless of antimony level, all the specimens failed under flexural performance test in terms of maximium deflection criterion. This was also believed due to the natural responese of the associated microstructural change. |
