英文摘要 | We reported our experience of performing electrically evoked auditory brainstem responses (E-ABR) for a profound deaf patient with Nucleus 22-channel cochlear implant. He revealed great improvement in test scores and subjective evaluations of speech perception performance after cochlear implantation. Electrical stimulation via cochlear implant was controlled by the spectra speech processor and the dual processor interface (DPI). The DPI was interfaced to an IBM compatible computer that utilized the diagnostic and programming software ( DPS 6. 100). A Nicolet Spirit evoked potential system was triggered externally from the DPI unit to acquire the response wave-forms. The current level of E-ABR threshold showed only a little greater than the comfort level of auditory behavioral response by a cochlear implant. The result suggests that measuring the current level of E-ABR threshold may be very helpful in predicting the behavioral comfort level, rather than the threshold level of cochlear implant patient. This is the first reported case of E-ABR in Taiwan. |
