英文摘要 | In this series of lectures, Professor Rockafellar intended to give a brief introduction toward the concepts and tools frequently used in optimization problems. Gradients and directional derivatives are generalized by subgradients and subderivatives to take care of functions that are not differentiable. Normal vectors are also replaced by more general ones so that the Lagrange Multiplier Theorems are just the chain rules in subdifferential calculus. Set convergences are addressed in several senses, Especially, the Hausdorff metric is pointed out to be inadequate since lots of sets encuntered in optimization are unbounded in nature. Finally, the variational geometry and conjugate duality are motivated and they are related under the concept of cones. |
