英文摘要 | This paper is to probe the relationship between vocabulary in context and reading. An empirical study was done. It was found that students were poor in word-form recognition which they depended most upon in guessing word meanings and they tended to confuse new words with those they learned previously without double-checking their guesses with the context. It seemed to be the case that most of them did not know how to take advantage of context clues at all. Most of the time, they failed to make any guesses for words they highlighted as new to then, even in cases containing ample context cluses. Based upon this finding, some pedagogical implications are suggested for instructional reference. |
