英文摘要 | During the past three decades, as a growing number of Chinese who are high-status professionals have immigrated into the United States, their outstanding achievement in education has resulted in the highest academic level compared with other Asian-Americans. This article is primarily divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the investigation concerning the reasons leading to the high academic achievement among Chinese-Americans. The following factors are found: selective immigration, the status a minority group, cultural values, parental influences, and assiduity. Although a majority of Chinese-Americans show excellent achievement in the educational area, in reality, not all of them fit into the model of superachievers. Therefore, the second part attempts to research the underlying fact of whether all Chinese-Americans are superachievers as a number of people assume. Finally, the author suggests that there should have appropriate programs, textbooks, materials, and innovative curricula so as to help those Chinese-Americans who still encounter school problems and consequently a harmonious climate of learning can be created. |
