中文摘要 | The Optimal timing for removal of suction drains following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was evaluated with quantitative ultrasonographic measurements. A prospective study with 60 patients receiving TKA was performed in a period of seven months. The sixty patients were randomly assigned to three groups (20 patients each):(1)group I patients had the suction drains removed at 24 hours postoperatively;(2)group Ⅱ patients had the drains removed at 48 hours postoperatively; and (3) Groups Ⅲ patients had the drains revmoved at 72 hours postoperatively.Quantitative ultrasonography was used to measure the volume of intra-articular hematoma at 24, 48, 72, 96 and 168 hours postoperatively. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the hematoma volume between any two of the three groups at the seventh postoperative day. Earlier removal of drains didn't lead to more hematoma accumulation in the joint. According to the above results, the orthopaedic surgeons will be furtherly convinced that removal of closed suction drains following TKA can be performed as early as one day postoperatively. |
