英文摘要 | This paper discusses the degradation of glass fiber reinforced Sheet Molding Compound(SMC) in water. The water uptaking behavior of unsaturated polyester composite containinglow profile additive, filler and .glass fiber have been studied as a function of temperature, interfacial adhesion and fiber content. Scanning electron microscopy was used to investigate themorphology of interfacial adhesion, corrosion-induced debonding and delamination. The effect ofwater uptaking on flexural properties of SMC has been studied for various immersion times at93℃. It was found that the strong interfacial bonding of polymer/fiber will enhance the corrosion resistance of SMC, while the weak interfacial adhesion, e.g. interface of polymer/calciumcarbonate or polymer/low profile additive, will accelerate the degradation of composite when itwas immersed in water. |
