英文摘要 | Though women constitute near1y half of Bangladesh's total population they have not had adequate opportunities to occupy positions in the civil service at different levels commensurate to their numerical size. Worse still, those women who hold administrative and managerial positions within the civil service that require making routine as well as major decisions are not only very few in numbers but most1y placed at relatively lower positions. To redress the present gender imbalance a number of policy decisions need to be taken and implemented. These are: significant increase in the number of posts to be reserved exclusively for women; drastic changes in civil service training to discourage harassment of women and encourage awareness development for both men and women; major breakthrough need to be made to enhance the number of educated women in the country. |
