英文摘要 | Patients with low back pain are usuallyaccompanied with the changes of the biomechanic° behavior of the back. Patients arenot able to move their bodies easily, and theyusually exhibit limitation in the degree and thevelocity of back movement. Previous study didnot assess the three-dimentional lumbar motionof the subjects with different ages. The threedimentional lumbar motion was measured usingLumbar Motion Monitor (LMM) system in thisstudy. The purposes of this study were to establish the normal data base and compare threedimentional lumbar motion between young andaged healthy groups. Subjects aged 20 to 50years, 19 subjects, were included in younggroup; and aged > 50 years, 17 subjects, were inold group. First.all these subjects preformed 10repititions of lumbar motion in three directions,flexion/extension, rotation and side bending, asthe warm up exercise. Then applied the Exoskeleton Unit of the Lumbar Motion Monitor onthe back properly. These subjects performed themovement with the range and speed as much aspossible. The amplitude of movements in eachdirection were recorded by the computer. Threedimensional movement were recorded at the same time, for example, in the movement ofsagittal plane, LMM also records the associatedmovement occurring in transverse plane andfrontal plane. Stepwise multiple regression wasused to examine the influence of sex, age, bodyweight, body height and habit of exercise on thelumbar motion. The unpaired-t test was used tocompare the difference of body weight, bodyheight and lumbar flexibility between the youngand aged groups. The results revealed that age, body weight and body height were the factorsinfluencing the lumbar motion significantly(p<0.05). There were no significant differencesin the body weight and body height betweenyoung and old groups. A significant decrease(p<0,05) in maximal lumbar range of motion ofrotation and side bending in old group wasfound. No significant change in the relationshipbetween one plane movement and associationmovements occurred in other two planes. However the associated movements were larger inthe young group than that in the elderly. Infurther research, the charcteristis of the lumbarmotion in low back pain patients will beinvestigated.( PTA ROC 1995;20(1):45-51) |
