中文摘要 | 本文要以清代臺灣之政經發展為基礎,探討清代臺灣的主要官學—儒學之教育設 施。其討論主要包括下列要項:統治政策與儒學設置數量的關係、學官與教官的素質、學生 的入學待遇與名額、在學時期之研習內容、學規與文風等。從以上各層面之探討,可明確獲 知清朝政府治臺二百多年間,對臺灣文教事業之經營情況,亦可得知清代臺灣之文化發展基 礎。從研究結果可知:同治十三年以後,清政府才積極在臺灣設置文教事業,這種現象亦顯 示在其長期未派專任之「提督學政」經營臺灣教育,致使清代臺灣教育成效受到影響。 |
英文摘要 | This paper explores the educational infrastructure in Qing Dynasty Taiwan of the chief officially-sanctioned field of learning--Confucianism--with reference to the political and economic development of the time. Discussion is focussed on the following major issues: the relationship between government policies and the number of Confucian schools, the qualifications of educational officials (xueguan) and instructor (jiaoguan), student quotas and treatment, scholastic content at schools, and school regulations and scholastic attitudes. An examination of these aspects is used to clarify how educational establishments were run during the more than 200 years of Qing rule, and illuminate the foundation of cultural development during Qing dynasty Taiwan. This research demonstrates that the Qing government was active in establishing educational and cultural undertakings in Taiwan only after 1875. This is reflected in the fact that for a long time the government did not appoint a dedicated "provincial educational supervisor" to oversee education in Taiwan, which adversely affected the effectiveness of Qing Dynasty education on the island. |
