中文摘要 | 現代語言學因其文化背景因素,是一門典型的西方科學。西方語言學理出了世界主要語形,但並沒有統合東西方語言的理論,反而以己之屈折語的框架來度量其他。本文從語言學著眼,強調跨文化的學術典範移植應審慎行之。語言學研究若全盤接受西方典範,不去探究西方典範背後的方法哲學及思想淵源,那麼在學術舞台上,我們永無迎頭趕上的一天,且在英語文教育方面會導出極為錯誤的觀念及教學方法。然而語言學近年的發展,讓我們有理由樂觀期待,隨著語言演化逐漸成為橫跨多種學門的焦點議題,語言學將產生新的動能,去重新審視典範,更有機會來發動典範的更動與革命。 |
英文摘要 | Modern linguistics nurtured by European culture should be considered to be a western version of the science of language. This new branch of science has brought the main types of languages into light. However an integrating theory of language that could properly go across cultural boundaries and take both European languages and the languages from the rest of the world into a balanced examination needs to be developed. As far as linguistics is concerned, any implantation of the working paradigm from American-European culture should be conducted with great prudence. It should be made conscious that under each working paradigm lies a developing history and a methodological foundation. If our linguists would like to strive to be an equal partner in cooperation with their western colleagues, besides engaging in reading and digesting the results of the west, they should do much more than that. As a matter of fact they should explore further into the philosophical background of modern linguistics. Only in proceeding this way may we find a way to correct the wrong orientation of the foreign language teaching in our school system. |
