中文摘要 | 人類知識來源主要是靠視覺與聽覺,其中又以視覺最為重要。因此,未來整體服務數位網路建設完成之後,視覺媒體將逐漸成為訊息傳遞的主流。而直接透過公眾電信網路傳遞和取得各式各樣的高品質視訊也必將為重要的電信服務。 動態視訊存取壓縮編碼國際標準MPEG為未來視訊影像儲存與傳送建立標準規範,經由此標準,視訊畫面經數位化與編碼處理後,可壓縮50至150倍,而仍具有錄放影機播放的品質。MPEG可應用至服務性公共訊息的傳播,各種簡報系統,解說系統,展示系統,查詢系統,公眾及家庭視聽娛樂,學校教育訓練及辦公室自動化上。同時因其採用全數位化的運作方式,因此極具市場發展潛力。 在高品質及多功能的要求下,MPEG架構優於H.261視訊電話/視訊會議系統的原因除了擁有離散餘弦轉換編碼,動態預測,動態補償等核心技術之外,更擁有相當於錄放影機的操作模式,例如快速搜尋、逆向搜尋、定格播放等。為了兼顧畫質清晰,動感連續及降低位元率需求,MPEG採用了較先進的順、逆混合動態預測補償,以及較準確的次像元動態預測技術。目前全數位化高畫質電視系統,已有沿用MPEG系統設計趨勢;因此,本研究對我國剛起步的通訊工業極具價值。 |
英文摘要 | Vision and voice are the major information sources of human knowledge, yet vision plays the more important part. Therefore, in the future video will gradually become the main stream in information transmission after the establishment of Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN). Transmitting and receiving high-quality video signal directly through public telecommunication network will also become the most important telecommunication services. Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) constructs an international communication standard for future video storage and transmission. This international standard can compress 50 to 150 times of source signal after digitalization and coding of video frames, and the decoded video quality is similar to VCR. MPEG can also be applied to services, such as public information announcement, entertainment, educational training, and office automation. In this paper, we describe the MPEG system specifications and video coding algorithms in detail Besides discrete cosine transform coding, motion compensation, and motion estimation technologies, MPEG has more attractive capabilities than H.261 video phone/video conferencing system system does. It provides fast seach, random access, reverse play-back, still frame, and other functions just as VCR does. MPEG uses bidirectional predictive technique and sub-pixel motion vector accuracy to make the reconstructed video sequence more clear and keep the bit requirement lower. Currently, at least three proposals of all digital High Definition TV (HDTV) use similar architecture as MPEG does. So, this research and simulation results are very important and valuable in the early stage of telecommunication industry in Taiwan. |
