英文摘要 | This paper concerns design of turning vanes with constant thickness applicable for subsonic closed-loop wind tunnels. This work is motivated by the present effort to establish a low turbulence tunnel in the authors' Institute and total pressure loss through turning vanes is a significant portion (about 20%) of the overall tunnel loss. This work composes of two parts: (i) viscous/inviscid calculation of flow through turning vane with uniform inlet flow and (ii) analysis of distorted inlet flow using steady and unsteady far-wake models. Results from part (i) show that extension of trailing edge with zero mean curvature decreases the local flow deviation asymptotically while the total pressure loss increases monotonically. The final design geometry calls for trailing edge of 40% of the unextended chord and solidity of 2.26, which results in loss of 4.7% of the dynamic pressure and 0.5 degree in trailing edge flow deviation. Results from part (ii) provide the ground work for experimental measurement of loss and deviation with steady and unsteady distorted inlet flow. |
