英文摘要 | The main purpose of this study was to investigate the anatomicalcharacteristics and the permeability properties of eight bamboospecies grown in the Experimental Forest of National TaiwanUniversity and their relationships. The eight bamboo species studiedwere Bambusa dolichoclada Hay., Bambusa oldhamii Munro, Bambusa stenostachya Hack., Chimonobambusa quadrangularis Mak.,Melocaniia baccsfera Skeels, Phyllostachys makinoi Hay., Phyllostachys pubescens var. pubescens and Sinobambusa tootsik Mak.. The observation of anatomical structures was through thescanning electron microscope and the results were as follows: 1. The number of vascular bundles per square mm (VB) in cross section ranged from 1.5 to 7.3, and Sinobambusa tootsik had highest number while Bambusa stenostachya was the lowest. 2. The diameters (D) of vascular bundles in these eight bamboo species were all above 80 n m and the largest one (113.2 n m) was observed in Bambusa stenostacAya. 3. The ratio of pits occurence on the vessel wall (PR) was between50 to 70 and the remainder was connected with the fiber sheath. 4. The average pit area (A) of the eight bamboo species studied ranged from 0.37 to 12.01 square K m. Highest one was observed in Chsmonobambusa quadrangtlaris while Phyllosfachys makinol was the lowest. 5. The number of pits per square n m (Q) in the vessel wall of the eight bamboo species ranged from 3.2 to 13.0. Results of the measurement and analysis of permeability index(P) clearly indicated that variabilities in the moisture movement in these eight bamboo species existed. Furthermore, such permeabilityindexes are highly correlated with the anatomical characteristicsobserved. |
