中文摘要 | 雖然已經有許多用來許估圖像符號的方法被發展出來,但是在眾多的方法中很難決定到底那一種方法比較好。因此,本研究從評估過去的研究中,嘗試找出一個最佳的方法。首先過去的研究文獻和方法被列表討論;接著討論最常用的兩種方法:國際標準組織的標準化程序(ISO)及語意差異法。並介紹兩種具有潛力的方法:多向度評量法和改良式的語意差異法。經過以上的探討,因為沒有單一的方法可以有效的評估圖像符號;因此,結合不同的方法或另外提出替代的方法,是目前可行的方式。過去的研究大多集中在評估已經設計完成的圖像符號,今後應該探討如何提供一個方法,讓設計師在設計的階段就可以用來檢驗圖像符號,是否達到設計要求。因此,尋找影響圖像符號設計的因子,再利用這些因子來發展改良式語意差異法,這種方法可以來來幫助設計師在設計的過程中評估圖像。另外,本文建議多向度評量法值得進一步的探討,因其客額的評估特性具有取代其他方法的潛力。 |
英文摘要 | Although various methodologies have been proposed form evaluating icon-based communication, identifying the best is problematic. Therefore, the present study is intended to identify which measure is preferable by reviewing earlier studies. First, a review of the research literature of icon evaluation is presented, then a number of studies and measurements for evaluating icons are listed. Finally, the ISO procedure and the semantic differential method are discussed, because they are currently the most frequently used approaches. The multidimensional scaling (MDS) and the modified semantic differential are introduced, because they are sufficiently potential to be alternatives to traditional methods in evaluating icon comprehension. Because no single measure is effective, combining more than one method or proposing a new approach for symbol evaluation should be a priority. Since most studies have focused on the evaluation of symbols rather than on their design, more attention should be given to provide designers with a predictive tool for evaluating symbol design at an early design stage. It is therefore necessary to identify the factors that influence the evaluation of symbol design. These factors would then be used as the basis of modified semantic differential for evaluating symbol design during the design stage. In addition, although the idea of using a confusion matrix in MDS to determine pictorial symbol dimensions is quite simple, the MDS seems to be a promising technique for understanding icon recognition and design, and clearly worthy of more indepth study. |
