英文摘要 | It is a world-wide fact that the English language has long since played one of the mostimportant roles in the modern world both in doing researches and in carrying oncommunication. No doubt, it demands great care, constant patience, and earnest efforts tomaster English and then put it to good usage. And it is obvious that every language involvestwo aspects : spoken and written. The same with the English language, too.Spoken English requires repeated drills and frequent utillization under favorable environmentto come to perfection. Of course, good intonation helps a great deal to thoroughunderstanding. So the accurate accent in individual words combined with correctpronunciation is of great importance in order to acquire adequate function. If we put ourmind to practicing speaking, we can seize every opportunity available to improve. By the timewe manage to reach fluency, we will readily not only feel an unspeakable sense ofachievement but find great enjoyment in successful communication as well. But as to written English, we have the knowledge that it consists in considerable problemsthat call for our close attention, for instance, spelling, sentence patterns and grammaticalstructures, etc. Among them, how to syllabify and accentuate words especially withpolysyllables may be of instant importance. Because without accurate and proficient treatmentwith both of them, ridiculous errors may arise. That is the major objective of my offeringsome hints and keys to these two branches. I think the rules are invariably of great help tothe solutions of all the puzzling points concerning syllabification and accentuation. Here I offer sixteen rules for syllabification and ten rules for accentuation as follows. I dohope that these rules will be of great value. |
