英文摘要 | Existing literature in librarianship on leadership concentrates on the development of management, styles of management, and various manifestations of thestyles in library administration, thus obfuscating the distinguishing characteristicsbetween leaders and managers. This paper reviews briefly the differencesbetween leading and managing. The case study that follows covers the adoptionand implementation of a state-wide circulation system and the later addition of abibliographic component in Illinois as instances of transformational leadership. These changes result in improved service for library users through betterresource sharing. Also discussed are the environmental factors that influenced theadoption and implementation of the system. |
