| In order to let all patrons know the services it provides, a library is obliged
tohold tours for all the people who are eager to use its facilities and services. A
grouptour, lectured by a librarian, is usually adopted to fit this need. However,
demandsfor more bibliographic instruction or for use of new facilities, such as online
searcl,have created trouble for the traditional group tour. The library needs a flexible
andeffective self-guided audio tour for different levels of patrons.
Langley Research Center Technical Library at NASA, University of Illinois
atUrbana-Champaign Main Library, and Texas A&M University Library install
theirown self-guided audio tour to familiarize their patrons with their services
andfacilities on a flexible schedule and basis. To develop this self-guided system,
thslibrary has to conduct a survey to learn about patron's interests and habits in thstour.
Based upon the findings, a committee shall be composed to monitor and guidethe
