英文摘要 | A study of hydrogen(H)bonding in the dimer water complex, (H₂O)₂, is reported. Based on recently publislied data and a modified semiempirical model of the dimer, comparisons are made with numerous structural and spectroscopic observations, and predictions are made of hitherto unobserved properties of the complex. Unlike earlier studies of H bonded species using a similar approach, there are no unexpected vibrational quantum effects reported for(H₂O)₂. The vibration of the bridge H atom in the complex appears not to include appreciable zero point energy or tunneling effects. The importance of this study may be (1) in the proposed refinements to the semiempirical method generally, and (2) in the applicability of this model specifically to the futnre stndy of higher polymers of water, (H₂O)n. |
