中文摘要 | 在臺灣從事教育哲學的許多學者,對於分析取向教育哲學並不陌生,其中對於倫敦路線的學者R.S. Peters和Paul Hirst的學說理念,更可說是熟稔。但在眾多倫敦路線教育學者中,Patricia White在臺灣教育哲學學術界受重視的程度,與她在倫敦大學同為分析取向教育哲學的同事相比,顯然不成比例。此文為補此遺珠之憾,特將Patricia White之生平、學經歷、職業生涯發展、成名著作、在倫敦路線學派扮演的角色、對英語世界教育哲學界的整體影響,做了概略式的交代。本文作者指出,Patricia White一生著述的重點,在探索如何透過教育來維護及促成民主的發展。 |
英文摘要 | Philosophers of education in Taiwan are no strangers to the analytic philosophy of education. Specifically, the philosophies of education advanced by R.S. Peters and Paul Hirst, two prominent scholars from the London line, can be considered foundational in the English-speaking world. In contrast, Patricia White who is also from the London line, the recognition she received within the circle of philosophy of education in Taiwan was sparse in comparison to her colleagues. This article addresses this oversight by providing a brief account of Patricia White's life background, academic experience, career development, significant works, and contributions to the development of philosophy of education. In addition, this article specifically mentions White's lifelong efforts concerning how political education can foster students' democratic capabilities for ensuring the sustainability of a democratic society. |
