英文摘要 | Our previous studies indicated that electroacupuncture stimulation on body acupoints could change pulse rate, skin temperature, and sympathetic skin response in humans. It has been postulated that acupuncture affects the cardiovascular system via the autonomic nervous system. The low frequency and high frequency components of heart rate variability can reflect the sympathetic and parasympathetic activity. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether acupuncture applied to different auricular acupoints induced different changes in autonomic function in humans. Thirteen healthy male student volunteers participated in three randomized experimental sessions as follows: A) control group B) acupuncture is applied to both Jiaogan acupoints C) acupuncture is applied to both Shenshangxian acupoints. During each session, subjects kept in supine position and rest state. Initial 5 minutes was defined as baseline period, the following 15 minutes as stimulation period. Short-term recording ECG signals were taken in four consecutive time period for the analysis of heart rate variability. In addition, digital skin temperature was measured throughout the session. Our results indicated that stimulation of the either Jiaogan acupoints or Shenshangxian acupoints caused decrease in skin temperature, while heart rate and heart variability remained unchanged during the stimation period. We concluded that acupuncture applied to different auricular acupoints resulted in the decrease of skin temperature, which possibly caused by sympathetic stress response. However, no significant changes were observed in heart rate and heart rate variability. Further research is needed. |
