英文摘要 | Circulating 2-deoxy-2-[¹⁸F]-fluoro-D-glucose (¹⁸F-FDG) undergoes glomerular filtration that is not reabsorbed as glucose. It is largely excreted in the urine. Urinary-system elimination of ¹⁸F-FDG can be mistaken for pathologic uptake. Furosemide injection during scanning reduces artifacts, shortens examinations, and helps avoid invasive procedures. Besides, many investigations have shown hydration to have further benefits in reducing background radioactivity, decreasing tracer uptake by normal tissues. A 68-year-old male with lung cancer and bladder cancer was assessed with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) examination for whole-body staging and following treatment planning. Initial positron emission tomography (PET) image shows doubtful uptake in right and left ureters and high concentration of ¹⁸F-FDG in bladder by urinary activity. Delayed PET pelvic images after intravenous furosemide and infusion of saline solution shows excellent washout of activity. It shows that infusion of saline solution and furosemide injection can decrease the ¹⁸F-FDG background activity and resolve the inherent tracer handicap in the bladder and both ureters. |
