英文摘要 | Malaysian Chinese Literature is no doubt an overseas branch of Chinese literature. A large number of Chinese writers came to Malaya and became important representatives of literature in Southeast Asia, such as Xu Jie, Lin Cantian, etc. Before World War II, Malaysia Chinese literature had been developing rapidly, especially when Yu Dafu and Hu Yuzhi came to Malaya. As the year progressed, the anti-colonial movement rose in Nanyang, and China also underwent a political upheaval. Many Chinese immigrant writers in Malaysia choose to return to China. Some of them also choose to stay in Malaya, such as Wei Yun, Fang Beifang, Yuan Shangcao, Yao Tuo, and Fang Xiu. The experience of indigenization had transformed their identification from ”diaspora” to ”citizen.” Around 1960's, the two new countries, Malaya and Singapore, emerged in the Malay Peninsula. The works of immigrant writers from China and local writers all focus on the living reality of Malaya gradually. This paper attempts to describe the development of Malaysia Chinese literature history and analyze the changes of theme of the Malaysia Chinese literature, especially the indigenization and transformation of Chinese immigrant writers in Malaysia during 1919-1965. The paper also tries to grasp the literary spirit and provide a new platform of criticism for the Malaysia Chinese literature. |
