The data were collected from January 14, 2014 to January 25, 2014. According to content and expert validity, the Cronbach's α reliability was .730 on the scale for the level of cognition regarding the health hazard of betel nuts and .740 on the scale for environmental hazard of betel nuts. Results: The average rate of correct answers was 82.82% on the overall scale for the cognition about betel nut damage, 80.35% on the subscale for the health hazard of betel nuts, and 85.50% on the subscale for the environmental hazard of betel nuts. Education level, smoking habits and betel-nut-chewing habits had significantly difference with cognition scores.
